There's no record that any Jewish sage, except The Christian apostle Paul, ever believed humans inherit an "original sin". They certainly believed we inherit the physical consequences of Adam's sin, but not a spiritual death that predestines us to Hell. This was clearly stated by the Jewish sages in The Tortosa Disputation of 1413. Jewish possession of the Holy land attest to God's favor for His chosen people; their eternal bride. Shalom.

I'm sorry if I gave you the wrong impression. I meant to say that even from a N.T. perspective, salvation only by faith in Jesus seems sort of inconsistent. The reality is that being a convert to liberal Judaism, I do not believe in the inspiration of the N.T. I guess what I mean to say is that I do not base my beliefs in anything related in the N.T.; whether it be interpreted one way or another. Of course, I do respect people's right to believe differently. Shalom
