  • I was recently given a violin for christmas and want learn to play violin. Surfing the web for instruction I found this website offering online violin lessons I am not sure if I should pay the money or not for such a program. Has anyone used this training program and did you learn to play the violin?w w w (dot) getgoodreviews (dot) com/go/violin_lessons (dot) php

  • Those instruments look beautiful...

  • Yes, I actually know about the scientific proof of wood getting more elastic over many years, and some minimal changes in molecular structure, etc.

    But!

Who knows which is more important? This positive effect of age or all the other bad things, like humidity/temperature changes, small accidents that might happen over the decades, which are harmful?

This is similar I think to art. Basically every single antic painting is restored and has modern work "added" to it. Which is no bad thing of course.

  • ah, I love the sound of violins and pianos played together. me and my cousin play together and It sounds rly cool. definitely gonna buy a cremona violin.

  • hehe, tell me about it... known as psyco-acoustics amoung guitar builders. Very annoying.... it means the next generation are being deprived of experience!

as a side note, many guitar makers do have evidence about the aging of wood and he affect on tone and projection. guitars seem to be experimented on more than other instruments for some reason... how cruel....

can i also just ask, out of curiosity, how many playable Stradavarius's actually have the original tops on them?
