Was the last T movie a continuation from "The Sarah Connor Chonicles"? Maybe it's so different because it picked up from there.

T3 doesn't quite match T2, but it's still one of the decade's better action films. Arnold's T2 residue and Mostow's decent direction allow for some stunning sequences, but one finds himself still yearning for Cameron's humanism. Thus, T3 walks upright in the shadow of T2 w/o fully emerging from it.

As much as you dislike Arnold, he made BOTH franchises.
