i7 3770k Rocks!!
-
@callmesmorz I know that they're faster but the performance you get for the price of the 1100t (which is still dropping) is amazing.
-
@SwiftHDX i realize that. but the enthusiast purchasurs arent kids. theyre usually rich people, or people who work off of their computer. and i found two websites that show that the 3960x is not just "slightly better.". it also shows that the i7 2700k is faster than the 1100t. if you want those links, i can PM them to you.

@callmesmorz The i7 3960x is slightly better than the 1100t (everyone knows that), but for that price you can get a whole AMD gaming rig with a decent graphics card (or 2). Unless you're a rich kid who steals money from his mommy and daddy then you aren't getting an enthusiast $1000 CPU. Intel is good but the prices are terrible. The only decent priced Intel is the i5 2500k and i7 2500k. The only difference between 2500k, 2600k and 2700k is 100Mhz, and you're paying £80 more for each 'upgrade'.

@callmesmorz (CONT.) Like, the average NBA player makes MILLIONS. But, hes not MILLIONS of times better than a college basketball player, who makes nothing off of their sport. the processor pricing is the same thing. once you reach a certain level, VERY FEW processors will have more processing power than, say an i7 2600k, so you pay that premium to get that tiny extra performance.
-
@SwiftHDX you pay for the performance. and, an itntel $1000 processor will SHIT ALL OVER any AMD processor, save for some of its server processors. BTW, intels i5 2500k (4 cores, no hyperthreading) is about on par with amds BRAND NEW 8 core FX processor , while costing less. and the i5 3570k (4 core, no hyperthreading) will be %20 faster than the 2500k, at about the same price. and when you get to that enthusiast $1000 cpu level, thats to be expected.

@nhs2008NC I also have a HD 5770, it's horrible. Intel are only good for stealing money. I mean, honestly, is a processor worth £1000 when you can get a similarly performing processor for 5x less?
-
@SwiftHDX Actually it plays Crysis at a fairly decent rate, and AMD APU are no good apart from that feature. I have a 5770 HD lets me play any game I want at highest settings at my 768p res. I think i3 2100 is nearly the same price as the AMD APU's but has better performance apart from Graphics. I know Intel are bullies but their cheapest cpu beats AMDs 6/8 cores that came 6-8 months after it!!
-
@nhs2008NC Plays Crysis at an unplayable framerate* -.-
If you want a cheap processor with an onboard GPU which can play BF3 at a playable framerate at low settings then get an AMD APU. Intel sucks.
-
@SwiftHDX I never said my i3 is superior to Phenom II X4 970 BE But it is fairly neck-to-neck with it and it has hyper-threading as well as support for newer instructuion sets cost a whole lot less and has a lower TPD and performs GREAT at stock. Also it has on-board GPU which is very capable (can play CRISIS!)
So that as well as better mobo make it perform greater than AMD did for me.
worth waiting for the imac's to update?

@XC0MB4TXEV0LV3D: If update frequency is to be looked upon iMac's are due for a upgrade soon but if apple decides to go with these new Ivy chips it might be almost March / April 2012 unless intel ships these chips early to apple.

gigabyte motherboards z68 To support PCI Express 3.0 is this necessary to upgrade ivy bridge????????plz reply

@shafishaheer212: As far as I recall with the BIOS update many of the Z68 boards would get the PCI Express 3.0 functionality but please check with gigabyte for your specific model.
