Ryleh and BrotherBloat were trying to maiden the Hyperion 10e class Cap 232. Sadly, the motor blew out for no apparent reason. All components were new (and from Hyperion) and the set-up was the recommended one.

We'll figure out what went wrong soon and update this video :)

  • Hey dude that was sooo lucky, imagine if that had happened while you were just pulling up into a hover, or even just into a take off. The motor can be replaced but that plane would have been matchwood....

  • @mattyfly4fun hey! Guess what - we changed the battery to a 20C 2200mAh pack (the one that probably burnt the motor was 35C 2200mAh) and it was flying just great with another motor. However, it did have two cut outs, where re-arming of the ESC had to be done mid-flight! Luckily, this plane recovers from a no-power stall without problems and there was no damage :)

  • Ive never had that happen on my cheap turnigy motors. :p Guess ill just stick to my cheap chinese "crap". ;-) No offence.

  • @SvenOkonomi hehehe - it's often the case that the 'better' stuff fails and the 'cheaper' stuff runs forever without problems :D We are suspecting the battery pack's size and 35C rating to be the cause this time, unfortunately. Seems like pulsing the 77A current wasn't to the motor's liking then!

  • @400chevlc I'm sure they'll be happy to help :) thanks for the comment!

  • I use Hyperion components for all of my kit models; ESC's, Motors, Digital Servos and their brilliant LiPo's - but yeah! it's just statistics; even if you have a brilliant QA you still may end up with 1-2 odd components that will get thru that will die!

Generally the guys have a good customer service so I don't mind!

    Smoke system test off :D

  • Thats sucks. It seems no matter how much you pay you can still get duds. I hope where ever you bought them from helps you out.
