Departing on a VFR flight in my Cessna 172 Skyhawk II from runway 34R at SeaTac International Airport and heading back to Bellingham. Notice the passenger jet aircraft lining up on the taxiway. Also notice the passenger terminals and control tower buildings on the East side of the field. SeaTac Airport is a major Class B controlled airport which serves Western Washington. Private flights are permitted in and out but the Port of Seattle charges a landing and terminal fee.

Thanks to co-pilot Scott Hume who ran the video camera as I flew the plane.

  • After you clear the threshold, does ATC direct you back onto the VFR transition routes or can you depart any direction you like?

  • LOL, you took the words right out of my mouth! I can only imagine...

"Seattle Tower, Southwest 2315 ready to go, IFR to Phoenix, #2 behind the gnat on hold, Runway 34R".
