  • May I ask why you were in the presence of two captured cuttlefish? Was this behind-the-scenes at your local aquarium or something?

  • Yeah - I interned a small aquarium, and so we took a trip behind-the-scenes at the aquarium in Boston.

  • Is it bad if I laughed, because I did, hard. Sorry if it's bad,

  • Haha no, I was laughing for hours after it happened.

  • ha ha , you did put this on U-tube! He got-ya,didnt he??

  • Chances are, it was a female trying to catch me as food for her eggs...

  • That's actually how they catch food. Their middle tentacles shoot out, stick on to the pray and drag it bad to their mouth :D

You had no idea that behind all that cuteness it was trying to eat you!

  • It just wanted to cuddle you. :D

  • "I wonder what she's doing here..."

    "Awh, it's so cute!"

"HOW DARE YOU CALL ME CUTE *shoot*"

  • pimp slap cuttlefish style :D

  • LOL- it got u didn't it

  • No, they only look like squid. Cuttlefish, squid, octopi, and the nautilus are all cephalopods, but they're almost entirely different animals.

  • @cuallito LOL! Actually, it wasn't trying to mate. It shot one of it's hunting tentacles out. Make note I said "hunting". Anyways, cuttlefish mate face-to-face. It was probably just very hungry, as they normally wouldn't attack a larger animal for fear of being eaten, but they probably were used to people since they've probably been in that aquarium all their lives, as some aquariums raise their own. Maybe they thought they were being fed lol it happen. They hatch from egg, like other cephalods.

  • I used to have an octopus that would do that to me, and she would also squirt water at me when she got to the top. They really have good eyesight and aren't afraid

  • They are cephalopds like a squid or an octopy but it's not the same animal.
