Replica Spitfire EN398 in Birmingham

Amazing sight of a running Spitfire in Victoria Square, Birmingham on 31/05/2010 during the Lord Mayor's Show....
Built over a 10 year period by Graham Adlam, this full size replica uses many genuine parts to detail the aircraft, and uses a Meteor tank engine (variant of the Merlin) driving the prop through a hydraulic drive unit...
This replica has been used in film & TV work (including Dr Who), and is also bookable for private functions!

Prop not connected to the engine I guess, still kinda cool.

@MrUllersater Yeah, the prop is run via a hydraulic reduction drive to have it running at a much safer speed for safety, and to avoid problems running a full speed running gear on a replica such as this (torque effect etc)

@TheGreenKnightVII I can assure you it WAS running that day! Misfires present have apparently been cured since this Video was shot last May

@frequentfiler this is a full scale replica using a lot of original parts in the cockpit, and a Meteor tank engine (derivative of the Merlin) so truely authentic sound....
