Injuries and Illnesses: A Jonas Family Story~Chapter 32

recap: No one was sick or injured on Christmas...a true christmas miracle!

Nicks POV

Now that it is after Christmas, we aren't spending as much time together as a family. I kinda miss it, but at least I'm used to it from the rest of the year. Mom and Dad went back to work today, and Kevin went out with Molly, so Andee was watching us. I still don't get why we need a babysitter if we are all older than 10, but oh well. At least Andee's fun.

"Kids! Wash up for lunch!" she yelled through the house.
"Coming!" we all responded, running down the stairs.
"Plates are on the counter. Joe and Dani have have dish duty after lunch, and Nick and Lexi can clean their rooms," Andee stated firmly.
"Aw, but it was just Christmas! We have a lot to do besides clean!" Joe whined.
"Joseph, you will clean then you can compose or whatever you do in the garage all day!" she orded.
"Yes mam," he sighed. Man, Andee was being strict today!

After we ate, we all cleaned what Andee assigned us to do. I had no idea what was wrong with her, but she was scaring me a little. We all eventually finished cleaning, so Joe and Dani went out to the garage to do whatever with all their new music stuff while Lexi and I had fun with all our new stuff.

It eventaully got late and Mom and Dad returned home. They made us all get in bed for the night. Apperentally midnight was too late to be up in this crazy family. Mom made sure we were all in bed before she finally called it a night for herself. She was so protective over us sometimes, but at least she was considerate.

Kevin's POV

I was woken the next morning by slight wimpering at the foot of my bed. I opened my eyes and sat up to see a fear-stricken face staring back at me. Tears were rolling down his cheeks, and she looked as if he had just seen a ghost.

"Nicky, what happened?" I asked gently.
"I had a bad dream. I'm scared to go back in my room!" Nick cried.
"Buddy, you are ten years old. You can't just sleep in my bed anymore. You're not a little kid like you used to be," I stated.
"You hate me!" he screached.
"Sh! You'll wake the entire neighborhood!" I hushed.

He looked up at me with his big chocolate eyes and pouted. It took me all of five seconds to give in. he was lucky I had a king sized bed in my room and not a small twin sized. he crawled under the comforter and fell asleep almost immediantly. I began to wonder what his dream could have been about, but I decided not to ask.

We both woke up a little while later and walked downstairs where Mom was making brunch for the family.
"Oh, you two are the first ones up! I knew midnight was too late for you kids! It's almost noon!" she exclaimed.
"Yeah, we were just all exhausted today I guess," I shrugged, sitting down on the couch with Nick.
"I'm making you kids brunch before I have to leave for work. It will be ready in a couple minutes," she explained.
"Alright. Thanks mom," Nick sighed.

"What's wrong hunny?" she asked, worried.
"Is-nevermind..." he trailed.
"Is what?" she questioned.
"Is- is Andee watching us today?" he asked quietly.
"No, Kevin is," she stated, slightly confused.
"Yes," he celebrated to himself almost inaudiably.

Later that day everyone was awake, and we were all palying random family games together.
"Rigged!" Joe shouted.
"Joe! It can't be rigged against you if you shuffled and delt the cards!" Nick corrected.
"Psh! Know it all!" Joe scoffed.
"Boys, are we seriously fighting over Go Fish?" I asked.
"I think they are!" Dani laughed.
"It's so true!" Lexi agreed.
"Shut up! I get...um...competitive," Joe explained to us.
"Sure..." we trailed.

We continued playing card games and board games until Joe got a paper cut on a card and completely overreacted.
"OW!! PAPER CUT!" he screamed.
"Joseph, calm down. It's alright. Go rinse it in some water and put a band-aid on it," I guided.
"It's too painful! Do it for me!" he cried. I sighed and fixed up his cut for him. We decided to not play with cards anymore. Family games were just to dangerous when it came to our family.
