Kalona City Crew Pulled Mayor Out Of His Snow-blocked Driveway

Kalona, IA City Council Meeting (February 7 2011) -- "Mayor's Driveway"

In his report, City Administrator Ryan Schlabaugh noted "a substantial amount of hours and a fairly substantial cost" associated with snow removal by the City after the recent blizzard.

Mayor Kauffman then complimented the City crew for pulling him out of his driveway. Councilman Lafaurie jokingly said to Kauffman, "Don't worry. You'll get your bill for that". AND HE SHOULD!

Is that a service the City would provide to all Kalona citizens whose driveways are blocked when the City clears the streets, dumping piles of compacted snow at the ends of driveways? I DON'T THINK SO!

How many other special folks got free bailouts using City crews and equipment this time?
