I got shocked by one of these bad boys 25 years ago, before I knew what they were, or even that such a creature existed. The experience was more surprising than painful!
They discharge only along the edges of their main wing, and the jolt will travel through a gloved hand all the way to your shoulder. I also understand it takes a while for them to recharge in order to shock again.
