At Tom Emmer's Server Summit, an activist dumps a bag of pennies on him for tips, after a week of political circus develops over his remarks about tip credits and lowering the minimum wage for servers. Emmer is the Republican endorsed candidate for Minnesota Governor.

  • umm so what does hockey have to do with a guy pouring pennies on a table infront of you -_-

  • I live in Texas and make a decent living for my family waiting tables 50 hours a week. I'm not happy with legislation effective TODAY (5/5/11) that says that I need to share my tips with others and we MATCH WHAT WE MAKE. However, according to the law in the Department of Labor Wage and Hour Division I don't think it applies where the EVERYONE makes more than minimum wage, (or at least reports that to the IRS). I'm interested in your thoughts...

  • @gastof179 Just waiting for the prop 8 trial to finish. They are using "responsible" procreation as a defense to to deny gays the right to marry. If they succeed with that reasoning. Groups are preparing to go after people like Emmer for IRRESPONSIBLE procreation! They are a burden to society to reproduce without being able to pay for them. A couple that has 7 children get 7 tax deductions and still only pays the same amount toward public schools as the couple that has ZERO children!

  • I wonder who actually collected all those coins seriously that was probably enough for a small meal or at least like 30 ramens. I'll take it

  • I think we should get government out of the private sector and let business owners pay their help what they want to pay them. If you don't like the crappy money you make as wait staff, do something else for a living. Everyone has a choice. Furthermore, illegal immigrants do not pay taxes and they do not deserve services at the expense of others. I would like to get rid of income taxes, but since that is not going to happen, everyone needs to be legit for things to be fair.

  • @neenerpuss Wow, that is ignorant. You do not have the right to tell people how many children they can have. Okay, people have children; why does that automatically mean government has to be bigger? Emmer supports his children; they are not on welfare. Sure, they go to public school, but if there weren't a state-funded education system, they wouldn't. If you want to talk about financial burdens, go to Minneapolis and see all the welfare cases complaining that they don't get enough services.

  • @jes381990 Horner...sure - that would be okay....anybody but the dingle Emmer.

  • @MissEgasMoniz Not really. Poll came out today showing only two-percentage points separate Dayton and Emmer, with 7% still undecided. Horner is still a wild card. This race isn't over yet.
