In response to many requests, here are the complete opening and closing credits of the classic 1966 Roger Mirams children's adventure series, "Adventures Of The Seaspray", featuring the full version of Eric Gross's magnificent theme.

Wish the buggers would put the series out on DVD!

  • Just a great piece of music .I often wonder how composers can write such beautiful music for Movies only.If you like this music take a listen to the theme music for. Ice Station Zebra one of my all time great movies.

  • @fredfungalspore - I quite like Ice Station Zebra, right up to the point where it suddenly detours away from the book and becomes something else entirely (about the time that Borgnine and Brown enter the movie - neither character is in the book).

Especially like the way McGoohan wipes the floor with Hudson, acting-wise - "I suggest you get me there. Put another torpedo up the spout, blow a hole in the ice, and GET ME THERE!!". Fabulous!

  • @fredfungalspore Riptide has started back on aussie tv this week, on 7mate, so theres hope for a "Seaspray" return yet.

  • @aussieblokes1964 - Mmmm, but Riptide was shown on Seven in the early 90's, so they already had them broadcast-ready, same as Nine with Spyforce - they're only really using them because they're cost-free content...

  • And from me as well, thank you so much. I spent a whole afternoon about ten years ago trying to track down that piece of music, because I loved it so much as a kid. As I got older I came to see the show as a bit lame, or aimed at a younger audience, but I never got over the music.

I'm on a roll now. I've found Speed Racer, Kimba the white Lion, The Banana Splits and Danger Island, the Square Knights of the Round Table and even HR Stuffin Puff. I think my 2nd childhood's come a bit early.

  • Lovely memory. I was 11 at the time and the world was full of wonder. Thanks for posting. Fast forward 25 years for the "Howards Way" opening...Ring any bells??

  • I watched this programme on our black and white TV. Gary Gray was my first love.....

  • This was my favourite show when I was 8, the only person I can remember, was Sue...lol, only just read the credits now roflmao, something I never did when I was a kid. My dad gave me the book, "Adventures of the seaspray" for my birthday, it was great dream time material.

  • ahhhh found the bugger....at last....for years I could remember this wonderful Music, the boat, the South Pacific but not the name....thank you, thank you, thank you....homesick Mark - Bruxelles, Belgium

  • I believe that the boat used by the Adventure of the Seaspray is in Fiji....now known as "Tui Tai(fjn)." or King Tai(eng).

  • I just sailed on this very boat 4 days ago in Fiji!

  • I never even heard of this show. But the theme music is just so beautiful.

  • Great to see this fine vessel. She was originally the Fitheach Ban and based in the Firth of Clyde. My grandfather was a crewmember in the 1920s.

  • tv should bring this show back

  • @aussieblokes1964 - As I said, that's more a case of Seven already having "Riptide" on hand after already screening it in the 90's and having local repeat rights...
