You can. This is just like your wallpaper. everything else keeps on working normally.

GREAT!!! Thank you Shantz, now finally i can use xwinwrap with xcompmgr, urxvt in transparency mode, and dwm as window manager! Now the xwinwrap window is treated exacly as real root window!

kind of a boring conky you have there ^^

When I tried to used xwinwrap it was covering my icons on the desktop. I had to set some transparency to use them. How do you manage to put it as your root window ?
