Thanks, texaoperastar, for all these postings and the website DEANNA DURBIN DEVOTEES. I put it on my FAVORITES,along with Dawn Upshaw, Jennifer Larmore,Miliza Korjus and the great gospel singer, George Bevery Shea, who will be 100 years old in February. I'm also in love with Frederica Von Stade, whom I've met, Carol Vaness,who I'd love to meet, Jerry Hadley and many others. What if Deanna had decided to sing at the Met when they asked her at age 15? Career unlimited. But we'll never know.

Gosh! What a voice! What a talent! I just really discovered Deanna Durbin about a month ago and I'm still not over it. I just fell in love with her voice and her screen presence and I just can't get enough of her. I would have loved to have seen her on stage doing opera ,recitals, singing with some of the great tenors ofher day. Deanna could have done anything she set her mind and heart to. The world is poorer for her early retirement from singing. I wish she hadn;t, but she did. Bravura, Diva.
