  • Hey Dave, looks like you had a good trip?

I did an encounter overland in 96 starting from Kathmandu going east thru india, pakistan, iran then down thru egypt, kenya. Flew to west africa up thru mali etc.

I had your driver John on the first leg. Had a bunch of assholes on my trip though from Egypt onwards. Got any video?

  • Hi Mike,

    That trip changed my life....

I did not take a video camera on that trip, wish i did..

Heard from Jon last year he lived in Oz after he left EO and is now back in the UK and devoiced.

I would like to see any photos of your trip.

    All mine are on Flickr.

    Regards Dave

  • Dave,

That video sure brought back some memories for me. It was great! I went from London to Nepal in 1998 with Encounter for 8 months. What a trip especially through the Congo and CAR. Wonderful roads huh? Did you take the caravan through Mauritania? I hear they have paved roads now. Takes the fun out of it!

Thanks for sharing your cool show.

    Ken

  • Glad that EO continued to make an impression on people 12 or so years after I left.

Like you, I was sorry to see it go

  • Thanks for the reply Dave,

I'll have a look at my old photo's & upload.

I agree, a trip like that changes you. You see how the world really is & Africa is a magical place, I'll never forgoet my experience. I hopped on a south bound trip & Jon carried on to London via europe.

My driver in Africa was Andy Sutcliffe from Perth Aus (great guy). It's a shame EO closed down after so many good years. The world is a different place now that it was 13 years ago! Cheers Mike
