  • Yep, fuse is not the smartest thing to use, I agree. The american visco fuse we use will not light the fuel alone usually. That's why we are also using smokeless black powder on the very ends. we use acetone to melt the Nitrocellulose based gun powder onto our fuse. But yes, yes. we will be making a 9 volt igniter here before long when we get more serious. I've already got some nichrome wire and pyro-gen. I also know about steelwool & matches but have not yet tried that.

  • You should try to get away from using fuse to light the motor and use an electronic igniter.

    With fuse you can't control what burn surface gets ignited in the motor (top, middle, bottom)

    There is a lot of information that covers making igniters and a simpe ignition system to fire them.

    An igniter will light light the top of the motor and ensure quick motor startup!
