  • @crafty1289 Semi Automatic gearbox, similar to a car gearbox but no clutch. Change gear with a pause in between each gear change, blip the throttle when changing down to get the engine revs at the right speed to engage a lower gear

  • What was the upstairs headroom height on these?.

  • Does this have a manual gearbox? I have been on one of these old dinosaurs before and seem to remember a small electronic selector on the windowsill, and you can see the driver selecting gears here. How does that work? Does it stay in the previous gear until the driver has selected the next one?

  • the last full leyland olympian has now been withdrawn from arriva yorkshire.616 was the last 1 to operate with arriva although it does say on the vid name "last ECW with arriva"

  • Briefly on the subject of other splendid Olympians, a really wonderful example was 520 CWR 520 Y which was at Selby Depot from start to finish of its long career. Goodness knows how many coats of differing colours it had with all the changes in ownership of the one time "B & S" depot at Chimes Road. I used to help out at Selby a lot, and loved it, and 520 remained one of the finest Olympians ever in terms of sound bodywork and mechanical excellence. and it has been sold for even more PCV use.

  • Beautifully driven.

  • 577 still survives i have been working on her today with her loving owner its part stripped and is not long away from having its West Ridding livery reapplied.

She goes and sounds just like she should and maybe returning to the rd,s at the end of this summer/year.

  • dont first eastern counties still have J623BVG?
