There is a reason I am a Philip and Melanie fan. It is not just because Philip has amazing dimples or that Melanie has that bubbly personality. I came to love this story because it is about two damaged people who formed an immediate connection. Who went through so many struggles with each other and against each other but still managed to come out stronger and better. They grew and tried to learn from their mistakes and eventually took a chance on each other.
When you are battered and abused, neglected and rejected, it is not a simple thing to risk your heart. It takes courage and hope and more than a little faith. I love that Philip and Melanie took that leap..once again...after being burned many times and in so many ways before. It is inspiring to watch, a couple that is willing to throw their all into love and creating a life and a family.
So many times for each of them it would have been easier to just roll over and die - but they continued to battle back after every downfall - and live passionate lives. That is what life is about filling each day with hopes, dreams, loves, and passions. And that is what good love stories are about...characters in a constant struggle to live a life filled with PASSION and LOVE. So while this journey may be hard, bitter, and downright mean at times, I love this story. Because two passionate characters such as Philip and Melanie don't just settle or play it safe. They will always want more than that. And watching them fight for it is good tv.

This episode was gut wrenching to watch...in a good way. As always it was well acted, and it was well written, and best of all it was ANGSTY. I am a firm believer you have to endure the bad to better appreciate the good. You have to experience the lows to know what really good feels like. This was a low. But I was so proud of Philip, finally a man, taking all of the "hits" - no tears, no yelling, no whining - he knew what was coming and he took it with such maturity. I loved that he went to see his son as well, just as Daniel went to see Melanie. That is what GOOD men do, they protect their loved ones and they take care of their children. Despite all the hateful words that Daniel (yesterday) and Melanie (today) were spewing at him, we fans at home know the truth. Philip was not trying to pawn off a child, Philip was willing to take responsibility (had he known the child was his), Philip DOES deserve to be a parent.
Very hard to watch Melanie so shut down and closed off. The most painful is how she is unwilling to let anyone touch her. She definitely is retreating back inside herself, walling herself in from all that could hurt her. It was very well done.
Melanie called Philip every name in the book today...some of the words you could tell hit him straight in the gut. She definitely was trying to hurt him badly. She was like a cornered animal trying to claw her way out of a trap. It was hard to watch.
If you have the time I urge you to watch old Phelanie scenes on the playlist from 2008 and early 2009. Phelanie were masterful in their scenes when they were at odds and hating each other. Their chemistry and PASSION comes through whether they are fighting or loving.
I have always thought the mark of a great couple is how their fights make you feel rather than the love scenes. If you can be left breathless and wanting more after battle...then that is a couple that has IT. Painful and sad as it was, I wanted more. Jay and Molly are just so good together, they make you want to watch.
Finally, the truth is revealed. Its about DAMN TIME. I absolutely love Melanie and she deserves better.
