The Springfield Armory produced around 700,000 trapdoor rifles from 1866 to 1892. In this video Larry Potterfield, CEO and Founder of MidwayUSA, takes a look at the Springfield Model 1873 Rifle chambered in the historic 45-70 government. From the ladder style rear sight to the typical straight grip stock, all of the features of this interesting firearm are examined.

  • I'm Larry Potterfield, I'm a total bad ass, and that's the way it is.

  • But steel butt plates are great for bashing in someone's head if the combat gets close and personal. This is a military rifle.
