  • I have been making mead for a few months now, and all I use is 2lbs of honey a 12oz bag of raspberrys or strawberrys, I have even used cranberrys and bannanas, and I use bread yeast(Flishmans in the jar) about 1 teaspoon, no nutreants just water honey fruit and yeast to one gallon of water.and 7 days later I have a nice mead. I have my first try at 5 gaql going right now.

  • @rapalaangler sounds to me like you are having a lot of fun with the mead making!

  • If I got locally sold fresh from the hive honey, do i need to boil the honey to kill any nasties? THanks

  • @KeithDraganiuk123 I would definitely heat the honey to clean it up. but don't boil it.

  • Hello there! Thanks for all of your mead videos! I'm making a lemon-ginger-raspberry mead, with a Wyeast Sweet Mead. How do I make sure the pH doesn't drop too low with the lemons? Also, the homebrewing shop I go to said that when they make mead they boil the fruits and then use the resulting juices to flavor the mead. Is there a difference in flavor doing that? And if you put fruit directly into the fermenter, do you have to sanitize the fruit? Thanks in advance!

  • @eiaboca Hi, Good luck with your mead. ph needs to be checked with some strips. Then chemicals added if needed. handling fruit differently always creats different flavor! matter of personal preference though. You definitely have to sanitize the fruit. Put in fermenter w/o yeast and add campden tablets. wait 24 hours b4 adding yeast. This sanitizes the fruit

  • @rapalaangler

What alcohol content does it have after a week? As a poor student, still in school, I am looking for cheap, fast alcohol whilst still preserving a part of our ancient Nordic culture!

Many thanks and may the Gods be with you
