  • I was born in Africa and when I first came to this country I thought this guy was too extreme, but now I think it would have been the best president this country could have had. Much better than Reagan. Btw, yes, as a Black person, I support his position on the Civil Rights bills. Racism is disgusting but the government has no right to tell people what they can do with their private properties. The best cures for racism are economic boycott and social ostracism.

  • @Kingcoul11 Without the Civil Rights Bill, Blacks were not allowed to stay in hotels and eat at restaurants in many parts of the country. If you wanted to take a vacation with your family you had to sleep in your car, By the way, Goldwater later admitted that he was wrong for voting aginst the Civil Rights Bill.

  • @InternationalBrother Sure, that was happening and it was a disgrace, but that does not negate the fact that the government has no right to tell people who they should allow on their properties. As a personal take, why would I want to give my money to a racist who hates me?

  • @Kingcoul11 You missed the point, and I guess being from Africa it's hard for you to understand what Jim Crow was all about. It's not about giving your money to racists since there were no Black-owned alternatives. It's about life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. Had you lived in the U.S. back then, you would not have been content to sleep in your car with your family with vacant hotels nearby. Black pro athletes had to sleep in buses while their White teammates slept in hotels.

  • The torch of liberty is in good hands Mr Goldwater. His name is Ron Paul.

  • @InternationalBrother Can you elaborate on why there were no black owned businesses? There was demand for them as blacks wanted to travel but why wern't there any? It's government that prevented them from existing. In a truly libertarian society, gov wouldn't legislate what types of businesses can operate in an area. Some would discriminate, but some would also cater to the discriminated.

  • Reminds me a lot of Ron Paul.

  • @InternationalBrother The Jim Crow laws were a failure of Government policy, not of the private sector. But because they were bad laws, doesn't mean the reverse isn't bad. I agree with Kingcoul11, by the same argument Friedman makes on equal-pay-for-equal-work tinyurl(.)com/yecof5j AND because of the unintended consequences in the future that those clauses create tinyurl(.)com/87rvrhf . Support the ladies! Bring back Ladies night! That clause in the civil rights act is the culprit!

  • the evangelicals fucked up the party. RIP Republican Party

  • @Kingcoul11

you're right, there were a lot of segregation, but A LOT of it, was govt mandated, there were LAWS forbiding racial mix, the state had no right to put them apart as it has no right putting people together, i'm glad to see your post so highly rated!

  • @AmericanUnrest Looks like how well you know Dr. Paul and Old Right conservatism, which Goldwater revived in an Old School liberal way (we call them libertarians today). Post Cold War foreign policy by Buchanan and Paul are the positions GOldwater would have pursued as well.

  • This man should have been our president.

  • wow appointing, O'connor was a terrible choice. She could've ended affirmative action, she ruled for.

  • plz post whole documentary

  • Pat Buchanan is the true conservative on the scene right now. Not Buckley (who sold out on immigration).
