As a Libertarian I was motivated to attend and support the GLBT Civil Rights Rally/Protest in Minneapolis and Saint Paul, Minnesota on November 15, 2008. This was my first time attending a protest of any kind, and I was very glad that I went!

I carpooled with my friend Jim:

and his sister Rachel and her friend Leeann.

I was given a sign to hold for free, and on it was written
"EQUAL RIGHTS FOR ALL" which really chimed with my Libertarian values.

I think there were about two thousand people in attendance at the Minneapolis rally, perhaps more. From where I stood I could only see the first few hundred people closest to me, and hearing the cheering from the back of the crowd was evidence enough that there was a whole army of us!

The Saint Paul rally at the Capitol was smaller, nice and short.

COOL IT GOT LOTS OF HONORS!!!!!!!

  • CIVIL RIGHT OR GAYS/LESBIANS RIGHTS?...Why are African Americans do not support your movement as a Civil Right?

  • probably for the same reasons they don't support Women's Rights or Animal Rights. Each group is unfortunately self-supporting, with a few exceptions.

  • It was really great to hear what the speakers had to say in the Twin Cities. Thanks for capturing and posting this John. And thanks for being a part of a phenomenal day nationwide!

  • There's another big one happening in January, I think I'll probably be going to that one as well!

  • Recording history...very interesting video!

  • thanks!

  • How proud I am to be a Minnesotan! If I was closer to Mnpls, I would've been there. I support GLBT rights, I only wish we could get this many people together (and more) to march on the capital to protest the bail out, martial law, the deterioration of civil liberties, poverty, the NAU, the Fed, the raping of the Constitution... ALL OF IT! I will drive the 200 miles or so, even if my Northern MN heating bill eats my cash! We need to fight against ALL INEQUALITIES. Let's get that rally together.

  • I hope that soon the Judicial system and the legislators will finally start taking this more seriously, and look to examples of the past in order to give everyone a bright future! Thanks for watching!

  • It's so often that these rallies are happening in the midwest too! The closest ones to me were Madison or Milwaukee which are both 2 hours away and just not doable this weekend. Great video my friend and worth all of the views and honors its getting!

I think its quite exciting to see this kind of civil rights activism alive and well in America.

  • I love that "Shall I legalize your marriage" sign. Although the chants seemed a little silly. lol "Hey Hey Ho Ho" Who you calling a ho?!

How does it feel to be there documenting moments of time; pieces of history?
