(Dec. 15, 2009) President Shimon Peres held a special and historic candle lighting ceremony at the President's Residence alongside 250 holocaust survivors. The event marked the first of its kind by the State of Israel to honor and salute holocaust survivors under the auspices of the President at the Presidential Residence in Jerusalem. Over 50 representatives of organizations for survivors were in attendance including the umbrella organization, the Center for Survivor Organizations. A special thanks to Yad Vashem for kindly lending the Hanukkiyah and the Violin, both of which belonged to children who perished in the holocaust.

This is why, among other reasons, Israel exists: to avoid the repetition of such horror against this nation. God bless the entire State and People of Israel.
