  • This is also an irrelevant truth. The debate about sea level rise concerns ice that is presently on land, not in the oceans.

The units used by the IPCC and others are 'Sea level Equivalent', or the amount that sea level would rise if the ice now on land melted and flowed into the ocean.

  • These maps are not a prediction of what will or will not happen. They are illustrations of the physical effects of specific changes in sea level, based on the estimated water content of the Greenland and Antarctic ice sheets. They simply provide a visual representation of the data being discussed.

  • It was caused by a river

  • that's bullshit. The pressure isn't determined by temperature, only its variations by temperature variations. Even if earth warmed to 1000 pressure would stay the same, learn physics.

And water level is dropping probably 'cause of increased evaporation rates from warm oceans.

  • I don't care how much the sea level will affect north and south america. I wana see Europe.

  • WAS grand canyon carved out by mile high glacial runoff?(6'000 years ago) post flood. maybe... if it can be proven it was created from north to south.

    Posibility yes?

  • well the grand canyon was carved by water so water had to have gotten that high before..so it is happening again

  • well of course the climate is bigger than us. It's probably the most complicated system we have encountered so far.

What makes you think climate change is a bad thing? Was climate change bad when the glaciers that covered most of North America and much of Europe retreated? No. no one in their right mind would think so.

    What's wrong with milder winters?

Unfortunately, in any case there has been no statistically significant global warming now since 1995.

Wake up and smell the snow!

  • Yeah... I have heard some of what Gore has been saying.

You may be right about that failing to understand the science. I've heard so many different version of what is happening - how the hell is one supposed to think?

Despite everything, I think it's bigger than us. The climate may be changing, but I don't think we can do anything about it. Except making lives more difficult for everyone.

  • isjoencinema - what nonsense. All the alarmists pretend that sea levels will rise because of melting ice. Where have you been for the last 10 years? Have you not been paying attention to the alarmist rubbish spouted by Gore?

You also fail to understand the science which shows that the effect of greater heat is to warm the atmosphere, raise the pressure and lower sea levels. This is why sea levels have fallen round Tuvalu and the Maldives, not risen! Duh! In any case it's getting cooler.

  • Heat = expansion

    You don't need extra water
