Its surprised to know that Pakistan Naval ship PNS Alamgir (USS McInerney...FFG-8, of the Oliver Hazard Perry class of guided-missile frigate) got damaged during engine test, its hull was completely crumpled, bow and pier area damaged and the BAE System's Southeast Shipyard in Jacksonville, Florida said that total cost occurred to repair the ship and the pier was close to US$11million.

Pak Navy brought, through US Foreign Military Sale, a refurbished OLIVER HAZARD PERRY (OHP) Class Frigate and associated equipment, parts and logistical support for a complete package worth approximately $78 million. The deal was finalized in Feb of 2010 and the ship was formally handed to Pakistan Navy on August 31st, '01 at Mayport shipyard, Jacksonville, Florida, and renamed PNS ALAMGIR.

After all the required training of the personals and installation of new equipment the ship was supposed to sail for Pakistan in December but because of some undisclosed incident as mentioned earlier the date was forwarded to mid-February of 2011 and than ship was sailed after necessary repair on 21st March 2011 and would be in Karachi harbour in May 2011.

  • But the more important question is:

Exactly why are we selling/giving weapons to our enemies, or anyone else in the world?

  • There are not words in the Pakistani language for "drydock" or "engine test" ?!?!
