For the past two years, French jewel thief Pepe Le Moko has lived in, and ruled the mazelike, impenetrable Casbah, "native quarter" of Algiers. A French official insists that he be captured, but sly Inspector Slimane knows he will reveal himself in time because the Pepe increasingly regards his stronghold as also his prison. When he meets beautiful Parisian visitor Gaby, it arouses the mad jealousy of his Algerian Mistress Ines.

Hedy Lamarr's best film. The scene where they hold the dead man's gun hand so he can shoot the bad guy was copied in the movie "Cutter's Way" with Jeff Bridges around 1977.

Such a great, almost forgotten film noir classic, which, in turn, inspired another classic "Casablanca"!!!. Buen trabajo, muchachos...Superb upload!!!
