Located 55 miles from Patna in Bihar, Nalanda was the largest residential centre of learning in the world with a nine-storeyed library. The monasteries are built in old Kushan architectural style, in a row of cells around a courtyard. It was the Buddhist centre of learning from 427 to 1197 CE partly under the Pala Empire. It is believed that Buddha visited Nalanda during his last tour through Magadha, and it was there that Sariputta uttered his lion's roar, affirming his faith in the Buddha. University of Nalanda was established in 450 CE under the patronage of the Gupta emperors, notably Kumara Gupta. Nava Nalanda Mahavihara is devoted to the study and research in Pali Literature and Buddhism.

Vajrapani-Lokeshwara will never forgive Islam for torching Nalanda. That is why Pakistan, Afghanistan and Bangladesh will always be poor, pathetic and full of terrorism with not a day of peace.

Philosophy is not religion, studying of reality and existence doesn't mean religion. Religion study is called Theology!!!! Veda, like Bible, Toran or Koran, is religious text. If you can't distinguish the difference, you need to pull your head out of the brahmin's ass and go back to school.

Every country uses English to some extent, but there's no Confucius university or Zoroaster university. The fact Nalanda uses a relatively new word to describe an ancient place of learning really shows the abject, desperate attempt to market itself as a true school of learning. The truth is, it is just a buddhist monastery. The subject covered were taught on a elementary level.

No they didn't. Both Zoroaster and veda were of Aryan origin. (Persian are Aryans) Avestan and Sanskrit are almost the same language, they are not called indo-european or indo-aryan language for no reason, as opposed to India's indigenous Dravidian language.

Philosophy is a general term of the study of reality and existence and to religion and philosophy go hand in hand....Philosophy of Religion is a recognized study...heres other examples of where Philosophy branches into...Philosophy of Science, of Mind, of Economics, of Language, of Art, of Mathematics, of History, of Education and so on and so on...so saying religion is not a philosophy is technically very very wrong...so much shame! lol lol

ok ok lets call it a vizvavidyalaya (Sanskrit) then...or lets call it a la escuela (Spanish) or call it dai gaku (Japanese). Im calling it a university because im an English speaker, and the English language adopted the Latin word ok. well yeah Buddhism was taught there amongst other topics, like grammar, logic, astronomy, astrology, medicine etc even the Chinese scholars Faxian and Xuangzang wrote this down in their journals which can be read even today on what they studied at in Nalanda

They evolved as separate schools of spirituality during the same period sure they share similar elements originating in the same period but Zoroastrianism and its Avestan writings was more a product of western Indo-Iranian culture. The Vedas evolved separately in the same era at a time when Indians and Iranians became two distinct people. Besides the idea of a proto-Indo-Iranian religion before the Vedas and Zoroaster is still speculated.

Well, even if it were a place of learning, why don't it has its own word that is equivalent to an university or school? Instead, latin word, university, is adopted, lol.

The fact is Nalanda was just a buddhist monastery, but India falsified it as an university, lol. Shame, shame, shame!

Lol, Vedic came from Zoroaster. More importantly vedic is religion, not philosophy, lol. You may call it so, but there exists no Vedic philosophy in any university.

Confucius, Plato and Persians school were the EARLIEST ancient place of learning. Confucius and plato were teachers by profession.

Your Rig veda is not a centre a learning, it was text written over time by different people over time.

and as far as schools of thought and philosophy go, don't let me start on Vedic philosophy and their Sanskrit scriptures which are way older than Confucianism, and Plato's teachings and the construction of Nalanda...which doesn't mean anything bad about them I have respect for Confucius and Plato but they're not the earliest mate. shame. lol
