Kelty, Marmot Rab are good bags, STAY AWAY from Slumberjack. A great bag for a bargain$53 is here geartrade d o t c o m search for Wild Bill . good sleeping bag by Sierra designs and they have a long.
-
I like the horse thief by big agnes and they have a couple for under $120 (wow). If you want a synthetic bag (less expensive, more moisture resistant, but heavier) they have some good ALPS Mountaineering bags (add 10-15 degrees to the rating though).

I would go to geartrade d o t c o m and look for bags sold by the seller Backcountry It is their outlet for returned items. I like Big Agnes because of the comfort and weight, but must be used with an inflatable pad since they have no insulation on the bottom, as it should be.

I am 13 and in scouts and when I go backpacking I have a kelty coyote 4500 st and it works great and it's full everyone Time i use it and for sleeping pad I just went to walmart and bought a cheap lightweight sleeping pad for 5 bucks and the tent that I use is a kelty grand mesa 2 tent and I don't share with anyone and with everything my bag weighs at about 32-35 pounds.
ALPS Mountaineering Orizaba Backpack, they are on Amazon for between $78 and $94. Get the 3900 cu pack, it only weighs 3 lbs 12 oz. is very rugged and adjustable.

yea earlier today i just bought a 3.8 pound A frame tent from a surplus store and everything else tht i would need is my sleeping bag, clothes, food ect. and i have everything else i need in my survival kit. but i wanted a good size pack tht wouldnt end up being too small

@etekballer14
But remember, a pack that is too big and not full will not "wear" correctly. make sure that if it is not full you "cinch" down all the straps. You want the center of gravity of the pack to be as close to your back as possible and you want as compact a package as possible.

is 4,577 cu. in.and 4 lbs 6 ounces a good size?
etekballer14 1 year ago
@etekballer14
4577 is very big (75 liters) Most scout outings are 2 or 3 days. My son and I use 46 liter (2900 cu in) for all weekend trips.
A scout will tend to fill up the 4577 cu in pack and 4 lbs is heavy.
Unless you are doing a week long trip, you should stay way from anything larger than 60 liters (as long as you pack well, light sleeping bag and small tent).
