  • by the way, search youtube for other videos of Tommy playing Tall Fiddler--you'll find plenty of others where the video seems to be sped up but is not. Tommy re-defines possibility.

  • sorry man, you sound fairly knowledgeable, but you're wrong. I was there and shot the video. I promise you, it's not sped up. But in your defense, if I hadn't seen it myself I would not have believed it was possible either.

  • Thx for sharing your video :-)

  • @chirpybee You're welcome. Glad you appreciated it. Tommy's awesome, and I loved meeting him afterward. I told him that my dad was a real fan of his, and had just passed away, and I was hoping he would play "I still can't say goodbye". He said he almost chose to play that, and that the song meant a lot to him too when he thought of his dad. Cool Guy!

  • Is thgis an open tuning?

  • @TheAtomBuster Watch the [EBS SPACE] Tommy Emmanuel - Tall Fiddler.mp4 video. Its in hi-def and the camera can actually keep up with him. You will be amazed when you realize he is just actually that fast.

  • @01Stratplayer To be honest, he plays more crisp than most musicians do at half that speed. While I don't always agree with showboating, sometimes guitars need to just go nuts and have fun - variety is the spice of life. I think he's able to keep his fun attitude about playing guitar because he has those moments of silly little tricks and whatnot, instead of being perfect 24/7. I'm not trying to argue, but I think he's earned the privilege to do whatever he wantsat this point lol

  • I have seen this fellow play on stage in Sydney and he is amazing! He plays for the crowd and for himself depending on the tune, He can play anything any style and any speed and you amateur playing clowns that criticize this genius of the guitar are laughable...!

  • If he enjoys what he is doing and how he plays. I say the power to him. Do what makes you happy in life.

  • This guy is very good, but he constantly spoils his performance by playing so fast that it becomes all about his speed rather than the sound of the song. A song can be played too fast to enjoy, and he does this all too often.

Is he good? No he is Great, a Master Player for sure. Just cranks up the speed to the point of being out of crisp control. Turns an impressive performance into a blur of Ego Rubish.

  • The video is sped up just look at his head and body movements around 1:45...still crazy though

  • Er....is there anything he cant play ???
