Why I Rooted

Note: It does NOT boot this fast; I edited the video so you weren't staring at the boot screens forever.
Admittedly at first I was saying there wasn't much reason to root an Android device. Then HTC brought us the Incredible. An incredible device with incredibly annoying apps you can't remove and an incredible battery drain. So I got to the root of the problem, and got some eye candy out of it too.

with the OTA on the way - would i still be able to use like the custom sense ui themes? i've been tryin to figure out how to do it, but i think i need to root my phone. still a bit nervous about rooting it but would it be more advantageous to root the phone rather than waiting for the OTA? sorry if i could be asking too many questions. still a noob about this whole thing

@plopinoy I have heard that, if you want root, it is always best to do it when you know you can. There's always the risk of an OTA removing the backdoors that allow rooting at all. And typically after an OTA comes out someone in the rooting/hacking community finds a way to adapt it in a few days. Hence how I've already got the 2.0 radio and the 2.2 Froyo with sense. Not that I'm personally a big fan of sense but it runs better than CM6 at the moment.

@blakeazimmerman There are a lot of tutorials on custom boot animations and how to change them. I just picked that one because I liked it at the time. As I just upgraded to a test release of Froyo I have a different one up now.

This isnt a custom rom you can do that with Adwlauncher and etc...

2 questions- Are you able to revert back to original settings if you wanted to after you root ...like incase I need to use the warranty down the line soverizon wont give me any shit? and 2- does rooting it and getting rid of skype and other bloatware help with battery life? my droid incredible battery life has always been terrible.
