It looks like my sister's 6-year-old (male) Congo grey parrot has made a 2009 New Year's resolution to help around the house! All kidding aside, this behaviour began around mid-January: as soon as he is let out of his cage, he rushes to the kitchen sink and executes the whole ritual in sequence (it can take up to an hour before all the dishes are done...). Unfortunately, he would not talk in front of the camera, but usually punctuates the whole thing with statements such as "I'm washing," "it's going to be clean," etc. / À 6 ans, le perroquet gris du Congo (mâle) de ma sœur démontre ses capacités d'observation en faisant lui-même la vaisselle!

  • How sweet.

  • Glad you enjoyed it, NorthwardEquinox: You'll find a couple more vids featuring my sister's grey on my channel.

  • hahahaha this is awesome, i love parrots they soo funny.

    thanks for the video

  • You are quite welcome, @02NK: drop in any time...

  • That's unbelievable. I mean, I know parrots sometimes imitate human behavior, but to this extent? I've never seen anything like it.

  • My sister was quite taken aback when she first witnessed this behaviour, and she soon called me so I could go see for myself. He had shown some pretty smart imitative behaviours in the past, such as making himself a "spoon" out of one of his plastic toys, handling it and eating out of it as we do with our utensils, but never anything this extensive...

  • With our own birds, 2 budgies and a finch, it is mostly "droppings" that we CONSTANTLY pick up! But we are nevertheless still holding on to our tennis club memberships!

  • this is priceless ! and that's just what we parronts need, more help !!!! LOL we no longer need our health-club memberships, we bend and pick up after our darlings all day! LOL

  • Yes, I think it's a motto: the more noise the better!
