that's why it isn't really the right technique to put in a barbell when it's first pierced. They should always put in a hoop type thing. That's the best way to explain. :[

it looks like the barbell was too shortt.
when i got mine, it wasnt that shortt. :P
i dont think it could just be from swelling.
