  • heh I am really bored anyone wanna play and have fun

  • @253169 it's all in your mindset, if you're distracted by instruments, that's personal. It's not your place to say that for everyone. David played a harp to worship the Lord. Why is the sound of instruments not distracting but singing isn't? It takes just as much work to sing on pitch then to play an instrument

  • When Paul told the church in Ephesus to "speak to one another in psalms, hymns and spiritual songs", this was and is an exclusionary command. He was specific in his use of "speak". This would exclude "play", "strum", "strike", or other term not specifically employing the voice. A song book cannot "speak". A trumpet, guitar, drum, harp, or any other instrument can "speak". Thus Instrumental music was not practiced in the New Testament church. It was not practiced again until a few hundred years.

  • not about whether or not they are out of tune.........just listen too the powerful words

  • Oh my dear!

  • what's with the random cymbals?! why can't we keep these songs a capella?

  • @Nubber so out of tune on the chorus

  • This was the worst rendition of this beautiful hymn I have every heard.

  • @Aquoy16 But my point is, the verses you cited are not commands against using instruments in worship. That's my point. Can you show me in the New Testament where it explicitly says instruments are NOT to be used in worship? The reason I cited Revelation was because I always hear Church of Christ members saying there's nothing mentioned in the New Testament about instruments and that's not true.

  • @Aquoy16 The scripture references you cited above do indeed support singing hymns and spiritual songs, but just because instruments aren't mentioned in those verses doesn't mean instruments are forbidden in the New Testament. None of those verses you cited issue a warning against using instruments in worship. Refer to Revelation 5:8; Revelation 14:2; Revelation 15:2 if you don't believe instruments are mentioned in the New Testament.
