incineration or landfill sites?
we cant recycle everything
-
We don't need no incineration!
Fight incineration it is immoral, short-sighted and selfish.
We can create far more jobs with recycling.
Use the song "It Was Madness" by Ro J on YouTube to fight any plans for an incinerator near you.

If it is burnt at the right temperatures for the right materials there won't be air polution.

Very true. We heard last week that the incinerator company has appealed to the Scottish Government to overturn the decision made by our councillors! So we're powering up again to fight it. :( So, my song It Was Madness will be playing again soon around here.... (it's on YouTube as well)

@Kingprawn1972 Existing pollution+more pollution=even more toxins in air + increased traffic levels = increased carbon emissions. sounds a rubbish deal to me for those who have to live around these things. Fair dues to you if you don't mind. maybe thats what we should do- move all the don't cares into the towns/villages/communities that are being displaced by these horrors? Despite the pro- incinertation propoganda, people have rights which are being ignored by those who THINK they know better.

@saundem2 Well i live about 4 minutes from the Rivenhall airfield in Essex where a new 250,000 TPA facility is being built. I highly recommend reading a small pdf called "The Health Affects of Energy from Waste in Context". I know its a WRG publication, and biased, but a brief look at table 4 (from DEFRA) just makes you realise how clean EfW is. ie, fireworks release 28 times more dioxins than incinerators but there arent any anti firework videos condeming their adverse environmental effects!

very interesting comments about campaigners andtheir fears- always easy to critise when you have studied subject from a completely objective perspective. Ask yourself how objective you would be if your families lived close to one of these things which DOES produce toxic pollution, to which the EU do not have the evidence to to allay health concerns. Simple really, the more shit we put in the air, the more we breathe in and te more risk there is to health.

I was anti incineration until i did my thesis on it for my masters at university. part of my research was spent interviewing campaigners (aswell as incinerator supporters) and was appalled at their lack of knowledge. I couldnt believe how little they knew about the subject they so fervently opposed. Read the EU waste incineration directives from 1976 to 2000, then assess the viability of the alternatives. if it doesnt convince you, you at least wont sound like a moron.

We won against our incinerator. I'm now helping other communities fight theirs. Help the global fight against incineration by buying It Was Madness by Ro J only on iTunes from Nov 2nd 2009 (see music video above)

Thanks Ivan. If you are in London please use your vote on June 4th as the mature lady who comes on interview before it's cut off, is speaking and standing for the European Green Party and fighting for a MEP seat for London. This is still going on in London. I recently visited a PFI facility with some consultants from Staffordshire/Southampton, and got 2 free DVDs send me your address to stand a chance of getting the latest commercial on DVD by the business keen to expand to West Drayton.

yes, sorry it cut off. I too was eager to see the end. I don't know how to upload videos longer than 8 minutes. Try Nottinghamshire Indymedia and the N.A.I.L. website for the original mpg file.
