  • if your in zone 6 it will live there unpretected

  • i had the main growing point protected without christmas lights but the same stratagy... the main psuedostem rotted... but a sucker ran 3 feet and is now growing like crazy. the sucker was not protected and is now over 5 feet tall . itsgrowing like crazy, barely watered, i have forgotten to fertilize it so far this season, and its doing amazing.

  • Do you actually have to put the musa basjoo in a bag? Cant you just leave it in the ground and cover it with something? Also do you really have to cut it back down? My musa basjoo's leafs all died becuase of frost, so I cut them all but I dont know what else to do, this is my 1st year with it, could you give me ADVICE? Thanks! Oh I'll definetly subscribe.

  • it depends on the zone you live in. the bananas are only root hardy in my zone if you have protection. the bananas foliage are not freeze hardy, and will suffer damage from temperatures below freezing. bananas that are not protected probabaly will grow back, but they will not grow to be as large the following year. i9 reccomend heavy winter protection below zone 8. thankyou for subscribing:)

  • i will probably post a video about this years protection 2mro.

  • I have my palm since couple of months and I wonder one thing: do banana tree, after every winter, grow greater ( in the same time) that last year?

  • yes, esp if you have grown the plant from a small plant. but it also depends on the growing conditions... if your banana has an espially harsh winter, it will stunt its growth... growing only a few feet or so, you will notice that as your plant matures, it will send out more and more pups, these will grow much faster than the original plant, my plant has 3 large pups that are about the same size, but one of the pups just showed up 2 months ago, its now reaching 5 feet tall. good luck:)

  • Fuck the north dude way to cold I'm from zone 10

  • Christmas lights?! what the hell lol. Did it survive that winter you wrapped it up for 3 years ago? what temperatures did you get then and had since if its still alive? I'm curious because I heard you have to use breathable materials or the pseudostem will just rot. Have you had any of this? Thanks for the video, it was a good watch :)

  • you look a lil like cuba gooding jr. nice vid btw i grow this season my first bananas but im lucky to live in zone 9 :)

  • another question it is about 25 degrees here give or take i cut it back should i pretect it?

  • umm ok i have one a bout four foot 5 this winter should i cut it back?

  • I got a few basjoos. If I use your method and don't use christmas lights, will it die?

    I'm in zone 6 too.

  • @yeahthatlukekid im going to get one this weekend

  • AAAAH DAMN what is that monster at the end of the vid staring into the cam!!
