@littlerudegirrrrl Byzantium was an ancient Hellenic city founded in '667 b.c.' after Byzas from Megara. The term 'Byzantine Empire' is the name the German historian Hieronymous Wolf gave to the christianized Eastern Roman Empire a hundred years after the fall of Constantinopel, in order to distinguish the Medieval Hellenic history from the Ancient Roman one.

@littlerudegirrrrl There are no Byzantine chants; merely Eastern Roman ones.
