@redk1994 sure u r not!! lol,,jk i grew up in NYC and was a DJ from washington heights. i had 2 sl 202 Technics gemini mixer and milkcrates of vinyls and cerwing vega speakers. that, my friends was the art of mixing, although todays technology is awsome..keep listening and enjoying misic,,because Music is happyness!! :)

Of course it matters! Some were gay, some were straight, but they were based on ultra-masculine gay archetypes found in gay bars in the late 70s. The founder got the idea while visiting a gay bar in the Village. They were intended to appeal to a gay audience, and the fact that they crossed over is significant because it is yet another clear example of the impact that gay culture has on straight culture, no matter how much you want to erase that.

I am not gay, and I think these guys are great. The Village People were a staple at all the discos in the 1970s. The only straight member is the lead singer. He's got a very distinctive voice that gives them their identity. Good stuff. Don't forget "In Hollywood" or "Fire Island." These songs are the best of all, forget YMCA, In The Navy...
