  • I would really like to see a close up of your mod. Are you on HeliFreak?

  • @peternut1

The aluminum struts that came with the floats were a little too heavy so I used carbon fiber rod instead. I used some standard, nylon, landing gear straps to secure the carbon fiber rod to the wood pieces. Because the flat, wood piece that came with the original float kit was a bit too thin to use with the nylon strap screws, I used 2 pieces of balsa spread apart like outriggers on either side to keep the floats secured.

  • I finally used zip ties to secure the whole assembly to the heli and used a little hot glue to keep it from sliding side-to-side.

  • I don't have the floats mounted right now but there is a closer pic of the mod on my Helifreak profile - tyrick69. Sorry, Youtube won't let me post a direct link to the photo so you'll have to search for it.

  • Do you have any mods on your Blade 400. On mine the main rotor head does not turn that long after I shut down the motor. It seems that by driving the tail rotor it is slowing the main. I can do autorotation but on a heli where the tail is not driven by the main when the motor stops, autorotation is easier.

  • @MidnightHeli If there were any mods at all done at the time of this video it would only have been the addition of abec 3 bearings for the main shaft, tail drive gear, and tail shaft. Other than that, the only other thing is to to run the belt a little loose and lube the belt with silicone spray.
