  • I love the old pictures.Thank you for sharing with us.My dad was a piano player back then.Music transcends all boundries.People tend to forget that these days.God Bless.

  • My grandfather was in a big band in the 40's. When then would play and tour in the north, they had a black female singer. When they went down south to play and tour, they had to replace their singer with a white woman.

  • Man! This guy sounded good in Blues Brothers.....40 some odd years later! One of my favorite songs ever.

  • Lots of passion, art, exuberance, humor, irony and authenticity in Calloway's music.

  • @TheRevmack thats what Brought me here....classes...gotta love em

  • Soo.. cooooool

  • we're learning about the roaring twenties and the great depression in history class right now. I immediately thought of this song...classic

  • What's really sad, though, is that even though there was still legal discrimination and de facto segregation even in New York City, black folk, at least in Harlem and most of the North, were better off in most ways than they are now, in terms of education, family solidarity, and crime/crime violence.

  • Wonderful Clips. I too have pictures of my parents photgraphed by James Vanderzee.

  • I love this video and Cab Calloway's songs!
