  • It is a very nice way to help kids respect and love the nature including the plants and animals.

    Thanks for sharing

  • i think its really great that ur teaching ur kids to appreciate some of the most misunderstood animals around. good for you

  • I've lived around these guys all my life (along with rattlers). What a great looking snake. And I agree with the other posts - This guy is doing the exact right thing. This is good for his kids and good for nature. One thing though, I wish more people would understand that rattlers are just as important as any other snake in keeping a natural balance in wildlife. They're only dangerous if you pester them. In my 64 years, I've never seen a rattler do anything but try and escape human contact.

  • beautiful snake! way to go, teaching the kids to understand and appreciate nature!

  • Brave kids...I would never pick up a wild snake, lol. And I own 10 snakes...but all mine where captive born.

  • Wow, that's a good size one depending on where you found it. Herper48, bullsnakes are a subspecies of gopher snake, but I think you might be right it looks more like a bull, or maybe a sonoran gopher, depends again on range. Nice job getting the kids that experience!

  • Nice, I have a Baja *cape* Gopher snake named flash.

  • Lovely!

  • i agree with a previous post. i used to hate snakes, but once i got to actually pet one and be with one, it wasnt so bad. its good to not let kids grow up with irrational fears

  • nice snake
