The Return of RH&DR no. 8 Hurricane

Sunday 17th February 2008 saw the return of the Romney Hythe & Dymchurch Railway's Henry Greenly designed 15 inch gauged 4-6-2 Pacific no. 8 Hurricane to service for the first time since July 2005 when a car collided with Hurricane on a level crossing sadly taking the life of Driver Suzanne Martin. Shots of Hurricane are complimented with shots of sister loco no. 7 Typhoon, no. 3 Southern Maid and diesel no. 12 John Southland at a variety of locations on the RH&DR. Also included in this video is no. 3 Southern Maid, no. 7 Typhoon and no. 12 John Southland.

They are indeed, even Nos. 5 Hercules and 6 Samson which are 4-8-2s, but very alike to the others.

Hurricane has a pretty large tender for an engine of her size. Why is that?

I'm not too sure why that is, although the tender is I think, about the same length as most of the others loco's tenders in the RH&DR fleet. No. 7 Typhoon also has the same type of tender as Hurricane.

Thanks and yes there are lots of lineside locations on RH&DR. Some of the best places are around the Dungeness area where you can get the trains rounding the curve into the station.
