In this episode we'll discuss phone patches. If you need to playback your production audio to a client or allow a director or producer to listen in on your session, a phone patch is a critical peice of gear for your studio. Watch as I dicuss what a phone patch actually does, how it's connected to your mixer and some cool tips to record your voice and the caller on a separate track to allow easy editing after the session.

  • That would eliminate the erquirement of a Hybryd to separate transmit and recieve audio, as they are now on seprate patchs, but you would stillrequire the AUX Minus setup on the mixer.

Without that you would still have the issue of the person callingin hearing the board output with their audio. With the natural delay of the 'round trip' of their voice, they wouold hear their voice echoing.

    Hope this answers your question!

  • @songswedo ftp... of course they're wav or aiff when mixed, no one who's actually serious about their work would distribute an mp3 or similar. no station in their right mind would accept it either.

  • Just curious. When you do a mix down. What kind of file format are you finalizing with? Do you leave them in .wav format? And if so, those are fairly large files. how do you get them to your clients?

  • I also heard that called mix minus

  • Very interesting Fletch, that answered many questions

  • What is feasibility of using two separate phone lines and using one to send out and one to receive audio?
