If you add lye or salt to the water it goes much faster.

That rust stuff means you used coper / iron. or your stainless steal isn't good, so far i got brown water when attempting to make hydrogen on a small scale. But now that i saw you video, your idea is good. Ps, dont worrie about the hydrogen escaping... Its lighter then air so it will get stuck in the top of the bottle :P

u can also do it directly in the 110V AC, much faster... and cooler.
