Diagnosed with MS on Dec. 29, 2011. I can relate to the sciatica. It was the most painful experience I've had in my life-and this includes kidney stones and ovarian cysts. And you're right; there is really no easy way to describe how it feels, other than excruciating. Cortisone injection around the sciatic nerve really helped me. I can now actually walk normally again. Best wishes for good health, brother. We're here with you.

Thanks. Was diagnosed with MS many years ago and everytime I go to see my neuro, who I love, he tells me I have yet another condition on top of MS. Bladder- some incurable lesion thing. Hooray. Now sciatica. But I suppose that is better than my MS getting worse. I guess in the end it doesn't matter- it is what it is. Or what it isn't. Anyhoo. We are not alone! Thanks for posting this. Take care.

I know what you mean, wrong phse of the moon and so on, I was giving up since day one. No effort is required, just remind yourself "I am not this desire" and it will disappear.

@rickileeway cheers Rick. An L5 disc bulge sounds very ouch. I'm getting the impression that back probs of all kinds are pretty common for MSers, eh? I'm learning so much about physiology, these last three years, in my amateurish way. Did you know that the sciatic nerve is as thick as a thumb?

Good topic Toby. I injured my back (L5 disc bulge), a few yrs prior to official MS diagnosis. Initially Neuro could not verify MS even after MRI since some have lesions on brain and not MS and symtoms overlap, ie. neuropathic pain in feet and legs, foot drop etc. also symptoms of spinal prob. I'm sure my MS was lurking around before back injury though. The injury probably hastened onset of MS because of pain & stress etc. and/or MS made me more prone to back probs.
as you explained.
Rick.
This may have ended my search for what in the hell is wrong with me! DX in 2008, having terrible pain in leg. Scared it is a flare up of the dreaded MS, but now have hope it may be some other annoying ailment. Glad I found your videos, you are wonderful.

Good video. I have had sciatica for years before I was diagnosed with MS...bulging discs in my lower back. Must have been all those years sitting in front of a computer screen, and oh, that giving birth thing too. ;)
I think it is a good idea to mention the things that normally go wrong with our bodies in addition to this damn MS thing.
On a side note... I think you look a bit like a young Max Von Sydow. :)
Hope you are well and the wires are quiet. Mine are buzzing incessantly.

@TheGothicRosie When I grow up, I wanna be an exorcist. Or Ming the Merciless! Mark (irishbear76) is Michael Madsen. You can be Isabella Rossellini, I suppose...

@Alexknobsob Fags are my Faustian pact mate. Life shortening but life enhancing - even life enabling. Trying to quit, at least in my current circumstances, would just send me bonkers.
