I have always enjoyed Tony Joe White. But it did seem to me that he was more or less a flash in the pan.

This video is labelled "Polk" Salad Annie but it is actually "Poke" Salad, or Pokeweed (Phytolacca americana). Johnny mentioned that Native Americans used the juice of the berries for warpaint, but even more interesting is that fermented pokeberry juice was used to write the United States Declaration of Independence, ergo the common name of "inkberry." I live in the deep south and wildlife garden so I allow a few plants to grow around the gardens to feed the birds, they love the berries!
