Checking the Myth about neck sizing rifle cases to improve accuracy. i checked this on my .338 win mag because I've never been 100% happy with the accuracy on this rifle, with factory loaded ammo. i have had much better results with my own hand loads. this time I've loaded up a 250 grain Sierra bullet with IMR 4064, & nickel plated Winchester cases. i know 4064 is not the best large rifle magnum powder, but i use it because it's almost universal to the three rifles i own and reload for.

  • well that sucksthat it didn't work, i reload pistol ammo but not rifle yet so i always enjoy watching someone do it..and gas costs about 60 more cents here..lol

  • @lskw1 yep i was bummed out about it. must be a old guy hype thing...? i used up my fuel rewards when i filmed this, so it lowered the price at the pump...still gas prices are outrageous!!!

  • I would havr thought the more you do the better it would be . And I know zero about reloading . Great Video :)

  • @krazy45cat yeah, i wasn't really sure if i'd get better accuracy out of the neck sizing die. oh well.

  • Excellent video! Thanks. Where are you payin 3.13$ per gallon? 3.65$ here.

  • @ajohn1511 i used up my fuel rewards when i filmed that :P i saved like $0.60 per gallon.

  • i liked the car ride to the range-thought it made the video neat.... felt like I was right there with ya

  • What did you mean when you said all you had left to do was crimp the bullets? Is there another die that you used after the seating die?

  • Might I recomend the Hornady Concentricty Gauge... It'll tell and CORRECT you're bullet run-out! it's awesome. also check the bullet seating depth by doing a rifling check.

  • A lot more than just neck sizing goes into making accurate reloads. The powder, bullet and primer combination is way more important than just neck sizing. To get the best accuracy you may have to go through lots of combinations before you find the one that is most accurate in your rifle.

  • Thanks for the vid... sorry if I didn't hear you say it, but the variable you are helping to control by form firing and then only neck sizing your cases is to develop consistent pressure... as you know, just one the building blocks of accurate handloads.
