This is why Lexus gets no respect as a premium brand when they make a family car (Camry) to look like their bona fide sports sedan (the GS) that cost thousands upon thousands more! You know that they have no confidence in selling the GS against the likes of 5-series but rather content on selling the cheap front wheel drive family sedan to the poor people. 70% of Lexus sale comes from the front wheel drive (ES) and crossover (RX). Not a very good indication of a supposedly premium brand.

You're right, ES and RX vehicles have been the Lexus division's best sellers. We think it's more of an indication about what shoppers are REALLY looking for, not just what they say they want.

Will this Lexus be another old fart magnet like so many other Lexus/Toyota products? How typical....they copied the dash from the Germans....

The exterior look and new interior should make this car appealing to shoppers under 40 years old.

@ valkyrieXX The 2013 ES isn't based on the Camry Platform. It actually was designed specifically as its own platform. The only other model that came out after to share that platform is the Avalon which went into production 3 months later than the ES. I test drove the Mercedes C300, the Cadillac CTS sport, which are comparable competitors in that class. The ES out performed them with ease and the cheap interior design of the other two vehicles really make the ES an easy choice for purchase.

the same can be said for BMW also , the most popular are the 5 series and 3 series.

Lexus has unsurpassed reliability, thats coming from some one who has owned a BMW, and Benz.

That argument can be extended to Cadillac too. Many have criticized the XTS because its a FWD sedan and while Cadillac is trying to appeal to European customers, all they do is look down on Cadillac and laugh considering they'd rather take a nail to the eye than trade their S-Class or 7-Series for a FWD Caddy. But the thing with Lexus is their quality reputation and their sparkling customer service reputation so Lexus will always sell well.
