  • Beautiful! How did you calculate the timing when editing the images, and the values of lighting? What objects are under the ice cubes? I had the chance to work with Mrs Mineko Grimmer some years ago, this is quite close to her art too.

  • Thank you. Timing was just a matter of trial and error, as most editing is. Values of lighting are just subject to the two lights I had on either side. If I remember correctly, the background and floor was black foam board, and the ice cubes were sitting on a toaster metal grill that was resting on cups on either side. I'm glad to hear there's an artistic connection: I always enjoy hearing that.

  • and what temperature?

  • It melted quicker with the lights, but it took quite a while. Also, the ice cube you see is not the same one; I went through about 2 or 3 ice cubes to get it all right. I probably had 1-2 hours of footage.

  • Awesome video. Pure meditation...

  • Thanks.

  • @BrucknerEnthusiast as a musician myself, I'm saddened that you have to critisize one of the most important american composers of the 20th century.

  • This is soooooooo beautiful!

  • absolutely free music...

I wonder why you just got 4 stars on this vid, maybe some people are just to ignorant

hope you continue your film work. the vids fit perfectly every time

  • i like it. And I like that it got some peole wondering and thinking.

  • As a professional musician I have a natural tendency to try to differentiate between the sounds and the images, when your intention is presumably to merge them into a single entity. The images are indeed beautiful and hold the attention. I'm tempted to say that John Cage's sounds do not deserve to be elevated by these beautiful images, yet immediately I find myself contradicting myself by admitting that the music is entirely appropriate to the images. So for me it's a thought-provoking video.

  • how long it took to melt?
