  • The Queen of soul. No arguments.

  • @Alexdurrant7 In some alternative universe where sugar is sour and salt is sweet. Fortunately in the real world that's not the case.

  • brings me to tears. something so beautiful

  • Kim Burrell version of this song dedicated to Whitney at her memorial service was so touching and a touch of Aretha present.

  • Sing, my QUEEN!!!! You are the ultimate DIVA!!!

  • She defines the word DIVA. I looked it up in the dictionary, and here's the official definition: di·va [dee-vuh, -vah] noun, plural -vas, -ve [-ve] a distinguished female singer

  • This version sounds more like remembrance of "Struggles,Sadness,Hardships....etc..", while Sam Cooke's version gives you the sense that you are still in those "struggles, sadness, and hardships". I don't know if I make sense, but regardless both of the versions are beautiful in their own ways.

  • @Jaylasplenty I'm not sure but its similar to the look she had on the cover of her first album on Columbia records, which was released in 1961.

  • @Aphoresis hahahaha hehehehe ADELE.... yup Adele.

  • @Sookie732

    lol Adele.

  • @bolder2009 Thank You. Is the picture in this video just an image from an album or is there actual footage of her playing when this picture was taken. I saw the footage on a PBS special they made called "The Women of Rock". I can't remember if it was at the end of last year or the beginning of this year. I think I saw her sing "Misty" in the same footage.

  • @Jaylasplenty No this picture is from the early 60's so it can't be 'Don't Play That Song For Me'. Aretha wasn't performing 'Don't Play That Song For Me' before 1970. She wrote it around that time.
